Medical Care
Our dermatologists diagnose and treat conditions of the skin, hair and nails. Explore the skin treatments, procedures, surgeries and light therapies you have access to at CentraCare.
Mohs Surgery for Skin Cancer
Mohs micrographic surgery is the best way to treat the most common skin cancers. During this procedure, a dermatologist trims away thin layers of damaged skin and examines them under a microscope. The microscope helps your surgeon see and remove all the cancer cells while keeping your healthy skin safe.
Mole Removal
A dermatologist can remove a mole that bothers you or might be cancerous. Your doctor may use:
- A minor surgical procedure to take out the entire mole and stitch the skin closed, if needed
- A blade to shave the mole off your skin
Afterward, a lab doctor will look at the mole under a microscope to check for cancer cells. Rest assured; most moles aren’t skin cancer.
Light Therapy
Narrow-band UVB (ultraviolet B) and PUVA (psoralen plus ultraviolet A) phototherapy use a special light to help with skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema and vitiligo. Narrow-band UVB therapy shines light on your skin to slow the growth of harmful skin cells and reduce swelling. With PUVA therapy, patients receive a special medication that becomes active when exposed to light. The therapy targets problem areas and helps your skin heal.
Skin Grafts & Flaps
Skin grafts and flaps repair damaged skin or cover wounds that won't heal on their own. To make a skin graft, a dermatologist takes a small piece of healthy skin from one part of your body and places it over the injured area. This helps the wound heal by providing new skin cells to cover it. Skin flaps involve moving a section of skin and blood vessels from one area to another to cover a larger wound or replace missing skin.
Cosmetic Care
CentraCare’s cosmetic treatments help you step into each day with confidence.
Botox® Injections
Dermatologists use Botox injections to temporarily freeze the muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles. They can also treat excessive sweating by blocking the nerves that stimulate sweat glands, so you have drier underarms or palms.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels gently remove the outer layer of skin to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and blemishes. You may notice smoother, younger-looking skin.
Dermal Fillers
Ask your dermatologist about injections that fill in wrinkles, lines and hollow areas of the skin, restoring volume and fullness to your face. Fillers can also plump your lips and make scars less noticeable.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser treatments remove blemishes and wrinkles by targeting specific areas of the skin with focused light beams. These treatments:
- Improve skin texture
- Reduce fine lines
- Smooth and even out your skin tone
Latisse® for Longer Lashes
Latisse is a prescription medication that makes your eyelashes grow. Using it can make them longer, fuller and darker over time. Applying Latisse to the base of the upper eyelashes helps enhance the overall appearance of your eyes.
Sclerotherapy for Veins
Sclerotherapy injects a solution into spider or small varicose veins, making them collapse and fade. This treatment improves the look of your legs and reduces pain and swelling.
