Acupuncture for Cancer Patients

Relieve side effects of cancer treatment with acupuncture at CentraCare. This therapy uses thin needles to stimulate your body’s natural healing process. Thanks to support from CentraCare Foundation, you can receive some acupuncture sessions for free.

How Acupuncture Can Help

Acupuncture doesn’t treat cancer, but some studies of cancer patients have shown acupuncture may ease symptoms such as:

  • Dry mouth due to radiation therapy on the head or neck
  • Fatigue
  • Hot flashes during hormone therapy
  • Lymphedema (leg or arm swelling)
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Pain
  • Trouble sleeping

Rest assured; acupuncture is safe for people of all ages.

Individual & Shared Appointments

After your initial, free acupuncture sessions, you may request:

  • Individual appointments for $40 each
  • Shared appointments (with a friend or loved one) for $20 each

What to Expect

An acupuncturist inserts thin needles into the outer ear, scalp, hands or lower legs for 25 to 30 minutes. You sit fully clothed in a recliner. For relaxation, you may wear an eye mask.
