Maternal-Fetal Medicine Services

When you have a high-risk pregnancy, you might feel worried and overwhelmed. That's normal. But remember, you're not alone in this. The compassionate Maternal-Fetal Medicine team at CentraCare, based in St. Cloud, is here to keep you and your baby healthy.

What's a High-Risk Pregnancy?

A high-risk pregnancy means you or your baby have an increased chance of health problems before, during or after birth. It doesn't mean you or your baby will have issues for sure. It means you need extra care and monitoring to ensure the best outcome for both of you.

High-Risk Pregnancy Factors

You might have a high-risk pregnancy if you:

  • Are older than age 35
  • Are pregnant with twins, triplets or more
  • Develop a pregnancy-related health condition, like gestational diabetes or preeclampsia
  • Had previous pregnancy problems, miscarriages, stillbirths or preterm labor
  • Have a fetus with a diagnosed health problem
  • Have a long-term health condition(s) before getting pregnant, like diabetes or high blood pressure
