Types of Mental Health Care
Based on your needs, your primary care clinician may recommend:
- Psychotherapy (counseling) – Includes individual, couples and family sessions to help you talk through challenges and brainstorm solutions
- Psychological testing – Helps you and your clinician better understand your ways of thinking, feeling and acting
- Psychiatry – Manages medications that treat behavioral health conditions
- Inpatient care – Involves a hospital stay to protect yourself or the people around you
- Partial hospitalization – Includes several hours of group-based programs each day but allows you to live at home
