    Biography

    What I Do
I went into cardiac surgery because it is the most challenging surgical field. If done right, you can extend the lives of patients or give them a better quality of life. I want my patients to know that I will always go the extra mile for them. My clinical interests include adult cardiac surgery and lung cancer.

    Why I Love My Work
I enjoy my work because patients feel a lot better after cardiac surgery -- for many it’s like comparing night to day.

Finding Alternatives That Make a Difference in Patient Lives
Cheryl Redepenning was suffering from nosebleeds as a result of being placed on blood thinners. Unable to get a Watchman device, Dr. Castro was able to recommend another alternative that made an immediate change in her everyday life. Learn more

    Getting to Know Me
I enjoy the four seasons and the great outdoors in Minnesota. Outside of work, my passions include hiking, photography, reading, cycling, badminton and tennis.
